A division of an institute that trains students in the humanities and sciences. This usually includes such areas as philosophy, history, sociology, psychology, biology, physics, chemistry and other disciplines aimed at the study of man, society and nature. The department may include the teaching of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, developing students' critical thinking, scientific approach and interdisciplinary competences.
