A unit that trains specialists in philology (the science of language and literature) and foreign language teaching. The department trains future linguists, translators, teachers and specialists in intercultural communication.
The main areas covered by the department include:
1. Philology - studying languages and literature of different cultures, analysing texts, developing skills of literary and cultural analysis.
2. Language Teaching - methods of teaching foreign languages, lexicology, grammar, phonetics, and the practical use of language in communication.
3. Translation and Intercultural Communication - training in translation techniques, the specifics of translating literature, technical and scientific texts, and the study of intercultural differences in communication.
The department is also frequently involved in research in language theory and practice, the development of new methods of language teaching, and courses and seminars on language development and culture. As a result, students acquire in-depth knowledge of language and literature, as well as practical skills for work in teaching, translation, editing, and research.
