Building Awareness: SDG Training During Institution Induction Week
October 3, 2025
As part of our commitment to fostering a sustainable academic community, this year’s Institution Induction Week featured a special training session dedicated to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
The program introduced first-year students to the global sustainability agenda, showing how these frameworks are closely linked to their academic journey, career development, and personal responsibility. Participants explored the structure and purpose of the 17 SDGs, with particular emphasis on the institution’s current priority areas:
• SDG 4 – Quality Education
• SDG 5 – Gender Equality
• SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
• SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
• SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
Through real-life examples and interactive discussions, students learned how SDG standards are used to evaluate organisational impact and why these values are important for future changemakers. The sessions promoted critical thinking and active participation in advancing sustainability aims both on campus and within broader society.
By integrating SDG education into the induction program, the institution not only welcomes new students but also empowers them to become informed and purpose-driven leaders of tomorrow.
