ISFT Advances Sustainable Development Through Open Teaching Practice

On 23 February 2026, the Department of Philology and Language Teaching at ISFT Institute conducted an open lesson integrating English grammar with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The session, held at the main campus in Tashkent and facilitated by Shalola Rahmonova, was open to all faculty members and students interested in sustainable education practices.

The lesson engaged many students and applied interactive, problem-based learning methodologies. More than 30 grammar examples were analysed in connection with global challenges such as environmental protection, quality education, equality, clean water, and renewable energy. Students participated in five small-group discussions, linking Present Simple and Present Continuous structures to SDG-related real-life contexts. Following the session, at least 80% of participants reported their intention to reduce plastic consumption and adopt reusable alternatives in their daily lives. The initiative strengthened grammatical competence while fostering critical thinking, communication skills, and social responsibility.

The activity contributes directly to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). By embedding global priorities into academic instruction and ensuring openness and inclusivity, ISFT reaffirms its commitment to advancing the 2030 Agenda and enhancing its institutional social impact.
